These are shaped wires in Square, Rectangular orTrapezoidal sections and are supplied in Drawn finish/Annealed finish. These wires are used in the manufacture of springs, and spring washers and snap rings.

They are normally coiled with a constant body diameter. There are other forms of compression springs too, including conical, barrel and hourglass. Round wire is most commonly used for compression springs, but sometimes square, rectangular and special section wire is required.
